A couple from Saône-et-Loire were amazed to discover that their electricity bill was around 300,000 euros following installing a Linky meter.
Cold sweat. Stéphane and Stéphanie Galopin still can’t believe it! This couple had the very unpleasant surprise of seeing their facture electricity climb to heights, just following installing a counter Linky from Enedis.
As reported The Journal of Saône-et-Loire, the couple residing in Simandre did not particularly want to install the smart meter. “We had to spend a day there since it was mandatory. So we did it but not lightly,” they explain to the newspaper.
Consumption explodes immediately
It was then that Stephanie installed the real-time tracking application out of curiosity to check the consumption of foyer. She was immediately taken aback when she saw that the house’s average electrical draw had risen from 6,212 kWh to 478,244 kWh over the year according to meter estimates.
Worse, the app’s estimated bill tells it an equally astronomical : 289 775 euros since the last direct debit paid.
A situation that the couple has a lot of trouble understanding: “Our heating is not electric, but wood, and we are two fewer people in the house compared to last year. It’s hard to understand” , they tell our colleagues.
Enedis explains the reason
This anomalies, the couple immediately shared it with Enedis. “The person I spoke to confirmed to me that these figures were inconsistent by explaining to me that there was certainly a problem of flux“, then explains the victim of this bug.
And indeed, following having sought the origin of this hiccup by carrying out checks, Enedis reports that “the display problem observed by customers did not come from the data reported by the Linky meter”. and specify to Capital that they are “in connection with the electricity supplier who also carries out checks on his side before returning to customers to provide them with the clarifications necessary to regularize the situation.”
