Leipzig will face Manchester City in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg this Wednesday (9 p.m.) in Germany. We take stock of the probable compositions of this meeting.
The Germans are hoping to field their French international striker Christopher Nkunku, while Manchester City have to deal with two last-minute withdrawals that took everyone by surprise. Indeed, while Stones’ package was already planned, those of Kevin de Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte were announced on Tuesday followingnoon. The Belgian international midfielder and the Franco-Spanish defender missed last training and will not be in Guardiola’s starting XI.
On the Leipzig side, the titular goalkeeper Gulacsi, the defender Abdou Diallo (ex-PSG) and the Spanish blaster Dani Olmo are still absent. Nkunku’s presence on the pitch from kick-off was in doubt following he suffered pain in training. At best, he will be on the bench.
The probable compositions:
Leipzig : Blaswich – Simakan, Orban (c), Guardiol, Halstenberg – Szoboszlai, Laimer, Schlager, Forsberg – André Silva, Werner
Manchester City : Ederson – Walker, Ruben Dias, Akanji, Aké – Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Gundogan (c) – Mahrez, Haaland, Grealish
