This time, we reviewed the SOUNDPEATS inner-ear earphone “SOUNDPEATS Air3 Deluxe”.
The inner ear type is not a type that is pushed into the ear hole, but a type of earphone that is worn by hooking it on the ear like MUJI AirPods.
AirPods are 19,800 yen for the 2nd generation and 27,800 yen for the 3rd generation, while this unit is 5,880 yen on the Amazon ↓ page. In addition, you can apply a 10% OFF coupon now.
I tried to use it mainly for telework for a while.
It’s cheap, but it’s lightweight, has solid sound quality and call performance, and it’s easy to use with attachment/detachment detection, IPX4 waterproofing, and tap volume control.
SOUNDPEATS products have a lot of performance and functions for their price, and there are many high cost performance products that stand out regardless of whether they are cheap or bad, and this unit is no exception.
Let’s see.
Appearance and specs
First of all, the included items are the earphone itself and the USB Type-C to A cable for charging. Although not shown in the photo, a manual for Japanese is also included. Since it is an inner ear type, there is no earpiece.
The case is glossy plastic. The impression I got was “light”. As described later, the earphones and charging case are all included, weighing less than 40g, which is very light.
The front of the case has buttons for pairing and resetting, and an LED indicator that shows the battery level and charging status.
SOUNDPEATS logo on the back. The silver panel gives it a nice taste.
USB Type-C port for charging on the bottom. Does not support wireless charging.
The earphone itself is udon-shaped.
Supported codecs are SBC/aptX/aptX-adaptive. Communication is Bluetooth 5.2, playback time is 5 hours with earphones only, 21 hours including case recharge. Charging time is 1.5 hours. Waterproof is IPX4. The driver diameter is 14.2mm and the sound quality is not bad.
In addition, two microphones are attached to each ear, and the noise reduction function is attached, so it reduces the surrounding noise during calls.
There is an attachment/detachment detection sensor on the inside, and it will automatically stop when you remove the earphone even during playback.
Metal contact surface for charging on the bottom.
Operation is done by tapping left and right. Volume up/down with one tap (right is volume up, left is down). Press and hold left and right for 1.5 seconds to go back and forward. Tap twice to play/pause. Also, tap three times on the right for voice assistant, and tap three times on the left for game mode.
The game mode is a so-called low-latency mode, and is used when playing games that are sensitive to delays such as music games. I didn’t measure the milliseconds, but I didn’t notice any real lag while playing.
The part where the sound comes out has a net like ↓.
The total weight of the case and earphones is 36.6g.
Earphone alone was 4.1g. The 3rd generation AirPods are 4.28g for the earphone alone and 37.9g for the case, so it’s lighter than that.
By the way, the AirPods Pro at hand is 56.7g, so the weight is different enough to hold it in your hand.
The size of the case is similar to AirPods Pro.
The thickness of this machine is thicker.
You can use it without hesitation
Because it is an inner ear type, it is not used for listening to powerful music with low bass.
It is convenient for using it as background music during workouts, or for doing many meetings by telework while wearing it.
If you use it in such a way, it is lightweight, so there is little burden on your ears, the sound quality and operability are good, and you can hear the voice clearly, so it is quite easy to use.
The point that worries me is that when the earphones are regarding to come off and you push them back into your ears, the volume up and down will react.
Other than that, there are no complaints, and it is rather useful to carry around with a work PC.
It’s less than half the price of AirPods, so it’s good to be able to use it without hesitation. It’s not a product you’ll regret buying because you won’t be compelled to make any compromises like you’ll find in cheap earbuds.
So, if you’re looking for a lightweight, easy-to-use, and reasonably priced inner-ear earphone, check it out!
