The lifeless body recovered this Monday from the Albert Canal is that of Jeannine Pinet, 70, who has been missing for a few days

On Monday, a lifeless body was recovered by the Liège firefighters from the Albert canal, near the Carrefour de Herstal. The victim, an elderly lady, was quickly identified. It is indeed a person who had been actively sought for several days.

The Liège public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday that it is indeed the body of Jeannine Pinet. The 70-year-old lady had left her home on rue Jules Destrée in Herstal, between Friday April 15 at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday April 16 at 8:30 a.m. Since then, her family had no news of her.

On Sunday, research had already been carried out in the Meuse. The bad news finally fell on Monday. According to the information communicated, it is a suicide. The victim would have, in fact, voluntarily thrown himself into the water.
