On the third day of the month of Ramadan in the 11th year of the Hegira, Fatem Zahra, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad and Khadija bint Khuwaylid, dies. In the book “Fatima al-Zahraa, may Allah be pleased with herof Abd al-Sattar al-Sheikh, it is reported that she was born five years before the mission of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him. “She was born in the year when Quraish rebuilt the Kaaba, and accordingly the age of the Prophet at his birth was thirty-five,” it adds.

Fatem Zahra married Ali Ibn Abi Talib. A marriage blessed by the Prophet, says Abd al-Rahman al-Basha in his book “Images of the life of the Sahabiyates», reporting that the cousin of the Prophet «prostrated before God», as a thank you. The Messenger of Islam also prayed that God would grant his blessing and give good offspring to Fatem Zahra and Ali.

A number of companions witnessed their marriage, including Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, Omar Bin Al-Khattab, Othman Bin Affan and Talha Bin Obaidullah. The daughter of the Messenger of God will give birth to Al Hassan, Al Hussein, Mohsen, Zainab and Oum Keltoum.

His relationship with the Prophet

The book “Kheir Nissa Al Aalamineby Majdi Al-Sayyid, confirms that Fatem Zahra was one of the most beloved people of the Prophet. When she entered his house, the Messenger of God kissed her on the head and made her sit on his seat, honoring him and showing her status with him. In “Sahih al-Bukhari” it is reported that the Prophet said: “Fatem Zahra is part of me, so whoever angers her angers me”. The Prophet also hated what his daughter Fatem Zahra hated.

Abd al-Aziz al-Hamidi confirmed, in his book “Ithaf al-Muhbibbi biskhasa’i», which the Prophet began by visiting and greeting Fatem Zahra if he returned from a journey or a conquest, before entering Medina.

When the Prophet’s illness intensified, Fatem Zahra visited him in the last moments of his life. After honoring her, welcoming her, and sitting next to him, he confided in her, which brought her to tears. The Prophet once more confided in her, which made her laugh. According to the stories, the Messenger of God first told him that he was going to die. He confided in her followingwards that she would be the first in her family to join him.

Al-Bukhari reported, quoting Aisha that she said: “Fatem Zahra arrived walking like the Prophet. The latter said to her: “Welcome to my daughter”, made her sit on his right or on his left, then entrusted him with something that made him cry. I said to him: “Why are you crying?”. Then he told her something else and she laughed. Aisha added, “I said, ‘I have never seen joy close to sadness’ and asked him what he told her. She replied: “I should not divulge the secret of the Messenger of God”. After the Prophet passed away, I asked her the question once more and she said: “He told me that Jibril recited the Quran to him once a year, but he recited the Quran to him twice for the year in course and that he will not see him later until his death is approaching. He also told me that I will be the first of his family to join him and so I cried. He then told me “Don’t you want to be the mistress of the women of Paradise or of the women of the believers?” and I laughed at that”.

The Prophet’s daughter died in her prime, six months following the death of the Messenger of God, following her great grief over the death of her father. Ibn Katheer said in “The beginning and the endthat she “did not laugh during the period of her life following him because of this grief.”
