The Liège local section of DéFI has just joined the Engagés, Sudpresse announced on Saturday. “But it’s not at all an absorption, however, specifies Benoît Bouchat, the leader of the Engaged group at the municipal council of Liège. We are just trying to do something together. The goal is to create a common project with all energies, wherever they come from”, can we read in the newspapers of the press group.
The current has clearly passed between the ex-humanists and the last independent federalist democratic representatives of the Ardent City, since “the new section president of the Engaged in the Ardent City, elected in December, is none other than Ludovic Luciani, who figured in third place on the DéFI list in the 2018 municipal elections”.
The amarante party, which arrived with great ambitions during the 2018 election, including that of setting up in Wallonia, quickly had to become disillusioned in Liège lands. “It’s a bit of a stampede indeed, there are less than ten members of DéFI active in Liège”, admits a wise observer.
