The National Rally of Independents party praised the decision of King Mohammed VI to issue his royal pardon to 4,831 people convicted, prosecuted or wanted in cases related to the cultivation of cannabis, and considered this decision an important step towards a promising future for the northern regions, which confirms once again, according to a statement from the party, a copy of which was received by Agadir 24, the king’s keenness to do justice to the inhabitants of the north who have suffered from the repercussions of this cultivation.
The party stressed in its statement that it extends its highest expressions of loyalty and devotion to His Majesty the King, praising this generous royal gesture that will contribute to achieving national reconciliation and opening new horizons for the residents of the northern regions.
The party stressed that this royal pardon is the culmination of great efforts made by the Moroccan state to find sustainable solutions to the problem of cannabis cultivation, which was a security, economic and social challenge.
The National Rally of Independents noted that this amnesty will enable beneficiaries to integrate into the new strategy that the regions concerned have engaged in following the establishment of the National Agency for the Regulation of Activities Related to Cannabis, which aims to develop alternative crops and non-agricultural activities.
The party affirmed its readiness to contribute to every framework effort aimed at closing this page once and for all, expressing its confidence that this decision will contribute to achieving sustainable development for the northern regions and ensuring a better future for its future generations.
