In its latest epidemiological bulletin on acute respiratory infections published on December 20, Public Health France notes that the level of circulation of the virus is “still increasing”. Concerning the week of December 11 to 17, “the circulation of respiratory viruses, Sars-CoV-2, RSV and rhinovirus, was still very active with an increase in the detection of influenza viruses and Sars-CoV-2, particularly in wastewater,” explains the public establishment.

36,895 new cases were declared by medical biology laboratories that week, compared to 35,003 the previous week. This represents an incidence rate of 54 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in France, compared to 52 previously. This incidence rate differs depending on the region: 57 departments record a rate of between 20 and 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while four departments are particularly affected by the virus, the level of circulation of which is increasing sharply. These are Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Moselle and Meuse. They each record an incidence rate which exceeds 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Vaccination and wearing a mask

Still in its latest bulletin, Public Health France recalls the importance of the vaccine: “It is essential that people at risk protect themselves by using vaccination once morest Covid-19 and seasonal flu.
