The Lenovo Legion 9i, the first laptop PC equipped with integrated water cooling!

During IFA in Berlin, Lenovo unveiled its Legion Go portable console. Responsible for competing with the Steam Deck and Rog Ally, it displays an even more impressive technical sheet, with a QHD screen and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. our handling, we were also able to see the other monster presented by the manufacturer: a Legion 9i gaming PC with an ultra high-end configuration, which constitutes the first laptop incorporating a watercooling integrated !

If other manufacturers already offer watercooling external, like Medion with its Erazer Beast X40 that we tested, Lenovo has indeed integrated its watercooling inside the chassis. Called Coldfront and developed in collaboration with the specialist Cooler Master, the module refreshes the graphics card when it exceeds 84°C.

Enough to maintain performance when the PC heats up too much while gaming or when using graphics software, and potentially limit ventilation noise – even if it would be appropriate to check it in real conditions. To compensate for the weight gain linked to this additional element, Lenovo used carbon chips for the cover, which gives it a rather original appearance.

A monster technical sheet

Apart from that, the technical sheet of the PC is rather unusual with a 16-inch Mini-Led 3.2K screen in 16:10 format, a refresh rate of 165 Hz and an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, which can go up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 and 64 GB of RAM.

Enough to play in the best conditions, even if you will have to spend a small fortune to get your hands on this computer: its starting price is €5,000 for the RTX 4080 version and €6,000 for the one equipped with an RTX 4090 …
