The Lehár Festival Presents MADAME POMPADOUR: A Spectacular Operetta Experience!

2023-07-09 05:42:52

The Lehár Festival presented at the premiere of MADAME POMPADOUR on July 08, 2023
an opulent feast for the eyes and ears and not only duly honored Leo Fall’s 150th birthday, but also offered the perfect start to a splendid operetta summer of a special class!

Thomas Enzinger’s enthusiastic staging, the magnificent stage design (Sabine Lindner), the perfectly choreographed dance ensemble (Evamaria Mayer) & the Franz Lehár Orchestra under the fantastic direction of Christoph Huber formed the framework for a frivolous story between a wild dive and life at court!

Count René (Maximilian Mayer) cavorts in the Musenstall with his friend Calicot (Kaj-Louis Lucke), who is writing a new satirical song about the royal mistress. It soon turns out, however, that Madame Pompadour (Julia Koci), who had just been mocked, and her maid Belotte (Loes Cools) are turning the two adventurers’ heads.

Julia Koci in her role as Marquise de Pompadour not only convinced vocally in a dream duet with tenor Maximilian Mayer (Graf René), but also acting, supported by the elaborate costumes of Sven Bindseil.

Master operetta meets great revue!

Leo Fall’s musical stroke of genius MADAME POMPADOUR will be reborn in a completely new guise in 2023: a jazzy revue version for the large orchestra was written especially for the Lehár Festival, which spotlights Leo Fall’s wonderful, famous melodies even more rapidly, romantically and frivolously puts.

At the Lehár Festival, the story of Madame Pompadour becomes a lavish operetta experience with big dance numbers, a prominent ensemble and the incomparable music of Leo Fall.
