After the abandoned remaster, the title developed by Rare might well know a new version on Xbox.
007 is back
According to leaker @ Wario64’s Twitter account, a list of new in-game unlockable trophies has been discovered on Xbox Live. Which might indicate that a new version of the game is in the works.
As a reminder, Microsoft, which bought the Rare studio, was already planning a remaster, but was confronted at the time with the beneficiaries of the franchise, in particular the MGCG as well as Nintendo. But as VentureBeat explains, the situation has changed in recent months.
“Nintendo wants to encourage more people to subscribe to its Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack service for $ 50 per year. Nintendo 64 games are the key to this sales pitch, and Rare is an important part of the most memorable games in this catalog”, Explains the site. “This means that Nintendo needs something from Microsoft, which gave the Xbox team the bargaining chip they needed to get the go-ahead for GoldenEye 007 once more.”
Obviously at this point it’s just a rumor, but it has never been so concrete, according to the captures shared on Twitter. It remains to be seen whether the game will (finally) see the light of day, and whether it will be offered both on Xbox and on Switch to the delight of fans.
