The legendary athlete Bubka called for the removal of Russia from all tournaments – 06/11/2022

On Saturday it became known that Russian judoists will take part in the Grand Slam tournament, which will be held in Mongolian Ulaanbaatar, as neutral athletes. Formerly International Judo Federation (IJF) canceled all tournaments in Russia due to the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, the organization allowed athletes from Russia to take part in international tournaments in a neutral status.

“The Executive Committee of the IOC, in order to protect the unity of international sports competitions, recommended their organizers and international sports federations not to invite athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus to participate. This position was fully supported by the Summer Olympic Sports Association this week. NOC Ukraine requires all international federations to comply with the above recommendations,” he said. Bubka.

At the end of February, the IOC recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete because of the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations excluded Russians and Belarusians from competitions under their auspices, and also canceled competitions in Russia. Other federations allowed athletes from the two countries to compete in neutral status.
