With the postponement of the sequel to Zelda Breath of The Wild, in spring 2023, many of us are hoping for another Zelda game to come out This year on Nintendo Switch to make us wait… It is true that generally, Nintendo manages to offer every year (at least) a new Zelda title (same with Mario) whether it’s a port, a remake, a remaster or a new game. If you’ve already been told (ICI) list of possibilities which is offered to Nintendo, persistent rumors announce, for some time now, the return in bundle of the two HD ports released on Wii U: The Legend of Zelda : The Wind Waker HD et The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. The two games would be offered together because they would be “simple” ports of the Wii U versions and not remasters like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD got out Last year sur Nintendo Switch.
In this regard, the podcast Fragments of Silicon questioned Tom CragoCEO of Tantalusthe studio that handled the porting of Zelda: Skyward Sword and who before that had precisely ensured that of The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess on Wii U. Only if Tantalus is very fond of working with Nintendo and would be willing to port Twilight Princess on Switch, at the moment it seems that Nintendo has not contacted the studio. Of course, we suspect that if this were the case, Tom Crago probably wouldn’t tell us. However, his spontaneous remarks (reproduced by le site Nintendo Everything) are quite convincing:
No, and listen, we would obviously like to do that, but it’s not a priority for Nintendo – or at least not in the conversations they’ve had with us.
The way it works with our friends there is that we’ll jump at every possible opportunity to work on one of their titles. There is a constant dialogue between our two companies. Often there is a bit of time between titles, and there may be other ideas that are thrown around, but in the case of Skyward Sword, some time has passed and then the email comes: “Would you be interested in considering bringing Skyward Sword on Switch?’ To which the answer is of course: “Yes, we would.” And then we get into conversations with Nintendo regarding what that might look like and finally we get started. So it was similar in many ways in terms of how Twilight Princess (on Wii U) came to fruition.
At the same time, Nintendo is not forced to contact once more Tantalus to carry The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD on Nintendo switch (mostly it’s a simple port.) other studios can handle it and Nintendo can even handle it internally. So, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will it return to Nintendo Switch this year- with or without The Legend of Zelda : The Wind Waker HD ? Only the future will tell us.
