Tomaszewski wants to run in the elections from PiS lists
– I received a proposal to run for the Senate as a PiS candidate from Lodz. I accepted this proposal – Jan Tomaszewski told Onet.
He chose the option of starting from the PiS list, because he does not like the current shape and nature of the work of the Senate, as well as the presence of Tomasz Grodzki among the senators.
– I believe that the Senate in the passing term has become an asylum for people who are threatened with prosecution. It should not be like this. The court should decide in such cases. Hiding behind immunity is deciding in your own case – said Tomaszewski.
The prosecutor’s office in Szczecin applied for the waiver of Grodzki’s immunity due to allegations of accepting financial benefits from patients or their relatives. The prosecution’s request was rejected twice.
Tomaszewski will return after many years to ul. rural?
This would be Jan Tomaszewski’s return to Polish politics and he would run for PiS again. In the 2010 presidential election, he openly supported the candidacy of Jarosław Kaczyński. A year later he was elected to the Sejm. He won a parliamentary seat in Łódź, starting from the last place on the list of Law and Justice, although he did not join the party itself. He was only a member of the PiS parliamentary club. In 2012, he was suspended from the club for a month. Two years later, he announced his resignation from membership, but Kaczyński beat him to it, informing about the expulsion of Tomaszewski.
In 2015, the legendary goalkeeper joined the Civic Platform parliamentary club. He wanted to run for another term in the Sejm, which is why he ran in the elections eight years ago from the PO lists in the Piotrków district. In the end, he did not get a mandate.
Parliamentary elections will be held on October 15.
