“The Legend of Mulan” one of the most famous myths in the world opens at 9.30 pm on Tuesday 16 July at the Municipal Summer Theater in the section of the Children’s Theater Stage of the Patras International Festival.

The play is staged for the first time in a theatrical adaptation for children in Greece from the children’s theater of Christos Tripodis. It is a spectacular theatrical production, based on the ancient Chinese poem “The Ballad of Hua Mulan”, with impressive costumes, sets, sword fights and choreography, as well as interactive play with the audience.

“The Ballad of Hua Mulan” is the legendary tale of a woman who defies rules and traditions. A female warrior of Chinese history, from the Northern and Southern Dynasties (4th to 5th century AD). In Chinese, “Hua” means flower and “Mulan” means magnolia. The Chinese believe he was a real person. Historians are undecided as to whether this is myth or fact, although they historically accept the poem’s evidence of war.
