The election campaign begins and Karl Nehammer has his back to the wall. After almost two years as chancellor, opinion polls put him in third place following the Liberals and Social Democrats. The last thing you need in a situation like this is the return of an undead whose political style he’s unfortunately forgotten to make. It only takes place on the big screen, but the memory of Talmi’s former greatness compared to the current sadness is at Nehammer’s expense. It seems spooky how the collective kneeling of the People’s Party in front of Sebastian Kurz was repeated at the family reunion, and the same officials are now crouching around the screen star. The extra Nehammer skipped the performance and only came to the party followingwards, perhaps to retain some dignity. It can’t be that easy if the questions as to whether Kurz is planning a comeback don’t want to end and are answered to the effect that he’s not missing one “at the moment”. There is contempt for the successor in the Chancellery.
