The Legacy of Les Boys: Anecdotes and Stories from the Iconic Hockey Movie Series

When you think of hockey movies, it’s hard not to think of the classic series Les Boys. With a quadrilogy, another film and a television series, it has marked the Quebec cinematographic and television landscape since the end of the 1990s.

And as stars of this universe come together to mark the 25th anniversary of the series with a podcast presented by The Blue Pocket, some well-known faces took the opportunity to chat a bit with Alexandre Caputo (Montreal Journal) regarding the Boys.

Among the lot, there is Paul Houde, who told a rather funny story in connection with the fourth film in the series: during the scenes where he had to face the Legends (a team formed by the greats of the NHL), the actor notably had to stop Guy Lafleur’s shots.

And during filming, Houde admits that he came very close to being injured, while a real lead de Lafleur grazed his mask before ending his way on the bay window.

Of course, Houde remembers the whole thing with a smile today, but producer Richard Goudreau had a good scare at the time.

And we agree that we can understand it: Lafleur was never afraid to put the pedal to the metal and his shooting allowed him to enjoy a legendary career in the NHL. I think Goudreau and Houde wouldn’t have been the only ones to be scared, let’s say.

Stéphane Richer’s shots also scared the goalkeeper at times, when he didn’t bother to go there with the pedal to the floor either. And honestly, it’s nice to see that these legends took the opportunity to give it their all on the ice.

By the way, might as well put on a good show, right?

A rather comical story, therefore, which shows that despite their age, guys like Lafleur and Richer still had a hell of a shot. These guys didn’t make it to the NHL for nothing, we get it.

At least everyone came out unscathed, and that’s the most important thing. And even if Houde was probably scared, he still had the chance to face shots from Guy Lafleur.

Not everyone can say that, following all.

A lot of

Phew.

– It was time.

– Even though the Titanic sinks, Aaron Boone still loves the sound of music. My text on the subject.
