The Lebanese “Health” requests the recall of “Kinder” products from the market

Beirut / Naim Berjawi / Anatolia

On Friday, the Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas Al-Abyad, asked to withdraw the products of the Italian company Ferrero, the manufacturer of Kinder chocolate eggs, from the local market.

This came in an official request that Al-Abyad addressed to the Ministry of Economy, in which he called on it to withdraw Ferrero products from the Lebanese market as quickly as possible in order to preserve public safety.

Al-Abyadh said that his request came following Ferrero admitted in a statement that there were internal loopholes, and following stopping the work of its factory that produces “Kinder” chocolate in Belgium, following its products were suspected of causing salmonella infections.

He pointed out that the Italian company (Ferrero) “withdrew in the past few days Kinder products present in European markets, the United States and many Arab countries due to concerns regarding products made in its Belgian factory in Arlon, suspected of being a source of an outbreak of salmonella.”

Lebanon is the tenth Arab country to move once morest the famous Kinder chocolate following Bahrain, Qatar, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait and Jordan, as these countries have taken measures to ensure that their markets are free of them.

And in early April, the company “Ferrero” recalled products from “Kinder” chocolate made in Belgium, following recording dozens of salmonella infections in Europe.

And salmonella bacteria cause in most cases fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.
