MADRID (AP) — Clubs that give more voluntary access for their players and coaches to broadcast partners will earn more in television rights, the league announced Friday.
Clubs will earn more from TV rights if they voluntarily offer “interviews with the coaching staff, pre-game locker room footage and more player involvement across all broadcast formats,” the league said.
The Spanish league hopes this will improve the fan experience and ultimately generate more revenue by encouraging teams to be more proactive.
The measure “came up in response to the demand from broadcast partners to improve the product so that it reaches the elite level of other sports competitions,” he added.
The Spanish league will debut this season as a partner of the video game company EA Sports as its main sponsor, with new logos and audiovisual images.
Only one club — Real Madrid, according to the Spanish press — voted once morest the profit-sharing measure. Some profits will continue to be distributed according to the audience and another portion will be calculated depending on the collaboration of the clubs and their voluntary initiatives.
The new system will only affect the 25% “audience recognition” criteria for revenue sharing, the league added.
“The measure and the proposed results are in response to the needs of a constantly changing market in which it is necessary to improve ties with fans who demand new content to improve the experience during matches, something in which other European leagues They’re already working.”
The league kicks off on August 11 with a new broadcast product featuring a redesigned graphics package, a new perspective and camera angles. More details and “a more immersive experience”.
New camera angles on the bench, aerial cameras, cinematic cameras in the player tunnel and improved graphics “all come as a nod to EA Sports FC,” the league said.
