A memorial ceremony is held when something needs to be remembered. When a difficult event is over and all that remains is to shape the national story. Our war is far from over. We are in the middle of severe exhaustion in the north. We lost territory from the State of Israel because we abandoned settlements, for the first time since 1920. We lost the settlement in the Galilee according to a decision of a political level.
Houses are bombed, bases are on fire, soldiers are killed. Great displays of heroism next to great pain. So 11 months. In the south we win. We defeated the center of mass of Hamas. We destroyed most of the terrorist infrastructure. We burned into our minds the cost of harming the Jews. We failed to return the kidnapped, a moral and practical failure.

The Israeli discourse is concentrated in the south for political reasons, but it is precisely in the north that we are at a disadvantage. Lebanon is not burning. In Beirut they understand that the Galilee in the eyes of the Israeli government is not Tel Aviv. It is allowed to crush it, to drive the residents away. This week we returned to suicide terrorists in Tel Aviv.
If the previous government had been in power, the big preachers would have demonstrated in the streets. When they are in the government – the maximum is tweets.
The battlefield needs to be decided and the country restored, a state commission of inquiry needs to be established so that there will be something to remember. internalize what happened in the years leading up to October 7. To produce alternatives to the political and military ranks that failed.
But the leadership is running away from an investigation – to the ceremony, it screams to the sky. There are no lessons learned or senior exchanges. When all those responsible, with the exception of the head of AMN, remained in their place as if nothing had happened – there is nothing in the ceremony.
It was also possible to understand if the function of the ceremony was national healing, the restoration of the country and the strengthening of mutual guarantee. To strengthen the spirit, with the Acetala of memory, to take care of a trauma-stricken country. But with great skill, the ceremony turned into something opposite. Regev shootings again, a ceremony again and extravagance again. Because “everything will be the same” – which is a sentence whose essence is despair.

Leadership should offer the opposite direction – hope. It has an obligation to dissociate itself from the policy and the hollow politics that we had. When there is no country – others have to lead, to say out loud: Citizens of Israel, do not despair of Israeli politics. Don’t look at the Knesset and the government and say “this is fate”. We cannot be mediocre. This war made clear the price of lack of seriousness. There is no possibility of giving up a system that will make national decisions. Desperation from politics must not lead to despair from the state. We are in the middle of the biggest crisis we have known since the Holocaust.
If the role of the ceremony was national healing, the restoration of the country and the strengthening of mutual guarantee, it would be understandable. Strengthening the spirit in the Acetala of memory for those who walk and care for a trauma-stricken country. But with great talent, the ceremony became a complete and flamboyant contrast
Contrary to what is shown in the media – the despair is not only on one side. The supporters of the government are discouraged because “there are no others to vote for”. They must have the least amount of evil. Those who hate the government are discouraged because they don’t know how to proceed.
There is an amazing people here who discover themselves every day. In every corner you turn away from the media, from social networks, from the Knesset – there are people who continue to leave the house just to contribute to others. Reserves keep coming despite crazy attrition and unfairness. Citizens continue to support. This is one of the most amazing phenomena in the history of our nation. It is many times bigger than all the poison people and nonsense of current politics. These people deserve something different, and because they deserve it – that’s what will happen.
No reserves? There are no budgets
These days the re-enlistment of those who are exempt from reserves is starting. Some of them were exempted in the delusional days when it seemed that no more reservists were needed, some of them have an exemption due to age and yet volunteer. Those who come from a sense of responsibility are usually also operationally experienced and more committed. The State of Israel does not have too many options.

The fighting in the north, the Iranian stirring up of the Israeli army and the maintenance of the Gaza Strip require many soldiers. The reserves are worn out in a year of fighting.
This solution is practical, but further illustrates the gap at the national level. Despite the war, the talk of a decision and the clear and immediate need – the coalition is unable to produce a comprehensive solution.
The Shasniks who serve are afraid of the Ashkenazi rabbis, the members of the Zionist coalition are afraid of the ultra-orthodox parties, and only the reservists who risk their lives are not afraid
This week it was Nir Barkat who ran away from his previous statement about serving everyone. The members of the Zionist coalition are afraid of the ultra-orthodox parties – the natural partners; The Ashkenazim who serve are afraid of the Ashkenazi rabbis. Only the reservists who risk their lives are not afraid.
Politics has returned to mere party survival. Any claim that coalition supporters make about hypocrisy can be true.
But that’s not important now. The State of Israel needs soldiers and needs political correction. The only way to do this is a mechanism of political power for those who participate in the state. Those who do not serve – will not receive budgets, subsidies and the right to choose and be chosen. Every ultra-orthodox, Arab, secular or religious Israeli citizen will go through a mechanism of military or national service.
In the Knesset of Israel there will be those who served in the army and whose children serve. The decisions they make will be in relation to the members of their families. unreasonable? Will not pass in court? There will be no court if the State of Israel does not restore itself.
good point
As part of the return to the Zionist base, which includes defense of the homeland, settlement and the absorption of immigrants, there are also conclusions about the importance of agriculture in Israel. Nutritional resilience which means relying on ourselves for food. Just as you understand that you need a large enough defense industry in a long war, shells, weapons and more – so do you need onions and tomatoes. There is no deep plowing without a weapon, it is written in “Shir Aresh Negbi”. We came back to the same conclusion.
The “Connections to Agriculture” association, like the “Hashomer Haviv” association, connects farmers who need help with old and young volunteers. Thus, for example, recently 450 youths from Samaria, on behalf of “Agriculture Connections”, went out to weed in Moshav Ahitov in the Hefer Valley, and prepared strawberry seedlings for planting in Moshav Kadima in Sharon.
The connection is not only to the land, but also to the people. Emek Hefer and the Sharon, with young people from the east of the country, religious and secular around the Hasidism of AD Gordon. “Agriculture Connections” has been employing thousands of volunteers in hundreds of large farms in agricultural-educational activities for a decade. Following the war, it went on an emergency operation with an available chameleon and matching volunteers. They are still looking for volunteers for farms that need working hands.
