North Korean leader Kim Jong-un congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on Victory Day. He sent a letter to the Russian president, in which he also expressed support for Russia’s policy, according to the Rodong Sinmun newspaper.

“I express solidarity with the people of Russia in their work to protect the dignity of the country, peace and security, with their actions to completely eradicate political and military threats from hostile forces that inherit the traditions of an unforgettable Victory,” the appeal says. The leader of the DPRK also congratulated Putin and the citizens of the Russian Federation on Victory Day. He stated that it was the Russian people that “destroyed fascism, which threatened the fate of mankind, demonstrating their heroism and self-sacrifice.”

Unlike the Russian Federation, relations between the United States and North Korea leave much to be desired. Earlier, the US Treasury Department announced the expansion of sanctions against the DPRK, recalls RT. The United States expresses concern about the launch of missiles and the strengthening of nuclear forces by Kim Jong-un. At the same time, the Russian authorities note that it is futile to expect complete disarmament from North Korea without providing security guarantees, writes “Tsargrad”.
