The 16th edition of the Egyptian National Theater Festival kicks off
On Saturday evening, the 16th session of the National Festival of Egyptian Theater opened, which bears the name of the artist Adel Imam, and will continue until the 14th of next August.
The opening ceremony, which was held on the grand stage of the Egyptian Opera House, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, was performed by the musician Hani Shenouda, who presented tracks from the music of Adel Imam’s films, whose name the session bore, namely: “Al-Mashbouh”, “Shams Al-Zanati”, and “Shams Al-Zanati”. dangerous recorder”, “born”, “cavalier”, and “avocado”.
The head of the festival, actor Mohamed Riyad, said in his speech on the stage that the session bore the name of Adel Imam, “because he is an artistic symbol for millions, and because he is the son of the theater, and in appreciation of his extended career.”
The festival honored a number of artists in the theater, namely: Salah Abdullah, Sami Abdel Halim, Muhammad Abu Dawood, Muhammad Mahmoud, Riyad Al-Khouli, Ahmed Fouad Selim, and Rushdi Al-Shami. The artist, Khaled El-Sawy, did not attend to receive his honorary shield and certificate of appreciation, due to emergency circumstances he went through, according to what the festival makers announced.
Theatrical performances competition this year is competing with 37 performances from various parties and bodies, which produced and presented their performances during the past year, and the list of participating performances came as follows: from the independent and free groups, 5 performances are participating, and the amateur teams, artistic unions, civil society organizations, private and university theater 5 performances.
The jury of the festival’s performances consisted of the artist Ashraf Abdel Ghafour (chairman), the membership of the artist Magdy Kamel, the director Nader Salah El-Din, the musician Tariq Mahran, the decorator Muhammad Al-Gharabawi, Dr. Sahar Helmy Helali, the critic Gerges Shukry, and the rapporteur of the committee, the artist Mahmoud Hassan .
The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of theater children and actors. Among them: Ayman Al-Shewy, Lotfi Labib, Manal Salama, Amr Ramzi, Aida Fahmy, Rania Farid Shawqi, Simon, Rania Mahmoud Yassin, Donia Abdel Aziz, Reem Ahmed, Hamza Al-Aili, author Amr Mahmoud Yassin, Mohsen Mansour, Sahar Al-Sayegh, and Simon Manal Salama, and director Adel Labib.
