the latest update removes one of its main interests

While one of the main assets of the Apple Watch Series 7 is its fast charging, it seems to have disappeared since the update to watchOS 8.5.

Last September, like every year at the same time, Apple presented the latest version of its connected watch, the Apple Watch Series 7. While expectations around a new design, more square with flat edges, were high, the novelties were ultimately rather scant. In addition to a larger screen with thinner borders, the main innovation brought by the manufacturer was faster charging.

Apple announced a 33% faster recharge on theApple Watch Series 7 compared to the Series 6. What allow, according to the manufacturer, to recover 80% of battery in 45 minutes. The full charge can be done in just under 90 minutes.

However, as reported by the site 9to5Mac, specializing in Apple news, it seems that the manufacturer is experiencing some setbacks with its fast charge. The American site has indeed spotted several comments from Internet users deploring the reduction in charging power on the Apple Watch Series 7 following the update to watchOS 8.5, deployed last week. A decrease in fast charging also noted by the website.

“With watchOS 8.5, something has changed and fast charging on Apple Watch Series 7 no longer seems to work. Many affected Apple Watch Series 7 users have taken to Apple’s support forums and Reddit to share their experience since the update and 9to5Mac has also been able to confirm this issue as well.”, says the website. Concretely, the concern seems to affect all Apple Watch chargers, whether those from third-party manufacturers, such as the Apple charger. Nevertheless, the 3-in-1 charging station with MagSafe of Belkin seems particularly affected by this problem.

A fast charge that has become capricious

Among the testimonials listed by 9to5Mac, one of them deplores that the fast charge does not activate permanently and that it sometimes takes several tries by reconnecting the charger so that it is supported by his watch. . Another indicates that its Belkin charger no longer offers fast charging. A comment from the article confirms this experience: “After updating my Apple Watch Series 7 to watchOS 8.5, fast charging no longer works on my Belkin charging station”.

Asked by 9to5Mac, Apple has not yet responded with a problem, nor has Belkin.

Remember that the update of Apple Watch to watchOS 8.5 above all allows you to reset your connected watch from an iPhone, a function that was not available until now. This update also integrates the authorization of purchases and subscriptions from Apple TV directly on Apple connected watches.
