The latest patch broke the remaster for some players

Yesterday, CD Projekt RED released the second patch for the PC version of their fantasy RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The first patch was released on December 19 and also caused a number of problems.

This hotfix weighed approximately 2 GB and was intended to improve the stability of the game on PC, fix errors in the photo mode, but in some unknown way the patch broke the game for some users. Complaining threads appeared on the Steam forums the fact that the game does not turn on or starts to crash much more often. Many complained regarding the lack of more significant fixes, although this complaint is not very relevant – it’s just a hotfix to fix a small number of problems.

Most likely we will have to wait for the third patch, but some of the victims were helped by a simple file integrity check in Steam.

Spoiler alert

You can do this in the properties of the game in your Steam library by selecting the appropriate menu item “Verify Integrity of Game Files” in the “Local Files” section.

The Witcher 3 Enhanced is available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S.
