Today, Saturday, a source in the Egyptian national football team clarified the position of Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star and captain of the Egyptian national team, regarding participating in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations “Côte d’Ivoire 2023”.

Mohamed Salah – 32 years old – arrived in England last Wednesday following suffering a hamstring injury during the match with the Ghana national team, which ended with a score of (2-2) in the second round.

Jurgen Klopp announced last Sunday evening following the Bournemouth match that Mohamed Salah had returned for treatment with Liverpool, following which the Egyptian Federation announced the return of the Egyptian star in agreement with the English club.

Jurgen Klopp indicated that his club agreed with the Egyptian Football Association that Mohamed Salah would return to the national team once the player recovered, in addition to the national team reaching the final stage in the African Cup of Nations.

Last Thursday, Salah announced the start of the qualifying phase for treatment of the injury he suffered, and here a source in the national team clarified the position of the player’s participation if the Egyptian national team qualifies for the quarter-finals.

A source told Yalla Koura that it will be difficult for Mohamed Salah to compete in the quarter-finals if the Egyptian team advances and skips the match once morest the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Egyptian national team is scheduled to play the Democratic Republic of Congo tomorrow evening, Sunday, at 10:00 pm Cairo time, in the quarter-finals.

The Egyptian team advanced to the round of 16 following occupying runner-up in Group Two with (3 points), as the “Pharaohs” tied in the Mozambique-Ghana-Cape Verde matches with a score of (2-2).

It is worth noting that the Egyptian national team suffered from injuries other than Mohamed Salah, specifically Mohamed El-Shenawy, who suffered a shoulder injury, along with Imam Ashour, who suffered a concussion before the technical and medical staff reassured him of his condition.
