Pedro Pascal was very successful as one of the protagonists of The Last of Us on HBO Max, but the actor must be divided between two productions in 2024. The second would be Gladiator 2, the sequel to the first film released in 2000, which will now be directed by Ridley Scott, but that might delay the second season of the HBO series.
According to the Deadline portal, Gladiator 2 is at the top of Pedro Pascal’s list of priorities at the moment, who would start filming the second season of The Last of Us at a second, as yet undefined, moment.
Sources close to the Gladiator sequel say the project is top of mind for Pedro Pascal, so his future projects, like Max’s The Last Of Us series, would have to work around his schedule in the Ridley Scott-directed sequel.
Gladiator 2 will address events that occur 25 years following the events of the first film, when Maximus, played by Russell Crowe, became one of the most powerful gladiators in Rome.
In addition to Pedro Pascal, the film’s cast will include names such as Denzel Washington, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Joaquin Phoenix, Paul Mescal and Connie Nielsen. Gladiator 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters in November 2024.
