Since then we’ve gotten further very strong indications of this once and twice, but the third time was the charm. Earlier this week, PlayStation Game Size and others with access to the PlayStation Store backend noticed that a native PS5 version of The Last of Us: Part II was ready to go, and things just escalated. A trailer was uploaded shortly following, confirming that this new version will be called The Last of Us: Part II Remastered, rather than the Director’s Cut label that PlayStation Studios has tried a few times. What’s more noteworthy is that the trailer shows that The Last of Us: Part II Remastered Edition will be launched on PS5 on January 19th. I’ve heard from multiple sources at the company that the PC version will launch in “mid-2024,” as they hope Part 2 will perform better on PC than The Last of Us: Part One did in the first few months. Much more. So what’s new in The Last of Us: Part II Remastered? Well, it’ll obviously be prettier, take advantage of the PS5’s improved audio capabilities and have faster load times, but Naughty Dog has some other less unexpected goodies up its sleeve. The most surprising is the roguelike mode, where we can choose between many different characters with unique abilities and enter a world similar to Hades, where different paths lead to various random encounters and areas. On top of that with new behind-the-scenes footage and commentary, a new guitar featuring Gustavo Santaolalla, new skins, even more accessibility options and a few other things, it’s safe to say that Your guitar will really play The Last of Us: Part II once more in January.
