According to Steam’s update log, the update to version 1.0.3 of The Last of Us Part 1 for PC weighs 8.6 GB and brings new options for keyboard and mouse, which can now have reassigned arrow keys.
There are also new sound options with higher latency for PCs with modest hardware, support for Windows Spatial Sound in Audio Output for those who have encountered issues with sounds that are too low or muffled.
On the graphics side, the DLSS slider should work flawlessly on PCs with NVIDIA GPUs, as well as the FSR technology on AMD cards, which sometimes corrupted the entire game environment when the flashlight was turned on. The bug that worsens texture quality has also been fixed.
Lastly, the Shaders build level has been updated to display operation progress consistently on the game’s splash screen.
Check the list of other corrections in version 1.0.3:
- Audio restored in the End Credits that are accessed through the main game, Left Behind or Extras Menu;
- Fixed a crash that might occur when opening a collectible in the backpack UI and then trying to restart or exit the game
- Fixed a crash that might occur while sitting (for extended periods) or entering combat areas
- Fixed an issue where in-game texture quality would appear lower than the targeted quality setting
- Fixed an issue where the player backpack UI might fail to render following changing the Render Scale (Options > Display Scaling > Resolution > Scaling Mode > Rendering Scale)
- Fixed an issue where an enemy NPC might introduce himself if Joel performed a quick spin while holding him
- Fixed an issue where lighting and fog might appear lower resolution on Ultra graphics setting
- Fixed an issue where the VRAM Usage UI would not refresh correctly when lowering the display resolution
- Fixed an issue where water reflections might appear corrupted or pixelated
- Fixed an issue where Quicktime Events UI prompts would not render at minimum spec settings
- Fixed an issue where moving quickly left and right while aiming might cause unintentional camera shifts
- Fixed an issue where collectible tracking from Steam and Epic clients would not match collectible tracking in-game, preventing achievements from unlocking
- Fixed an issue where if playing at a higher FPS, player animations may not play correctly
Speaking of fixes, it is worth remembering that NVIDIA released a driver update that fixes several problems found in The Last of Us Part 1, so the ideal is to install these updates to keep the game with the best possible performance.

On the last 28th, Sony finally released the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1, remake of the iconic 2013 game. it would be the first chance to experience the game outside of the PlayStation.

The Last of Us has become one of the most acclaimed franchises on PlayStation, gaining even more popularity following the launch of its live-action series on HBO Max.
All this popularity generated an absurd hype for the launch of a PC version of the game, something that is part of Sony’s new market strategy. Unfortunately, the expectations of many ended up being frustrated by the launch, as the port performed well below expectations, even requiring PCs with very robust configurations to run.
The game’s lack of optimization caused Steam users to bombard the title with negative reviews. Currently, the title has more than 7,000 reviews on Val’s digital store, but only 33% of them are positive.
Even though Sony acquired studios Nixxes and Jetpack to work exclusively on the PC port of their games, the version of The Last of Us Part 1 was handled by third-party studio Iron Galaxy, which also works on the port of Uncharted: Legacy Collection of Thieves. As much as the Uncharted collection was well optimized, we must remember that Iron Galaxy was also responsible for the PC version of Batman Arkham Knight, which was extremely problematic and needed support even from the NVIDIA team to stay in a state ” acceptable”.
In response to the criticism, Naughty Dog revealed on their social media that they are investigating issues reported by players.
We will continue to update you, but our team is prioritizing updates and will fix the issues in future patch packages.
The Last of Us Part I PC players: we’ve heard your concerns, and our team is actively investigating multiple issues you’ve reported.
