The largest ship in the country’s history will arrive at Payra port in April

State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that in the first week of next month (April), the largest ship in the history of the country will arrive at Payra Port.

On Wednesday (March 22), he gave this information in the review meeting regarding the progress of the implementation of the development projects under the Ministry’s 2022-2023 fiscal year including ADP and the development projects under implementation until February 2023.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that the ‘first terminal’ of Payra port will be inaugurated in the first week of next May. The vessel will have a draft of 10.5 meters and a length of 225 meters. Seven ships will arrive this week. Capital dredging of Payra port will be completed on March 26. Then the port will be more viable. Big ships will come. Marking, buoy lamps are installed on inner and outer bars. 15 ships can be accommodated in the inner bar. There will be loading and unloading activities. 4,200 families of land owners acquired for Payra Port have been trained in 23 trades. They are self-reliant. 1000 acres of land has been filled with soil from capital dredging.
