Ahead of the Haapsalu horror and fantasy film festival starting in a week, Estonia’s largest chainsaw will be formed.

The action taking place in Haapsalu castle park on Thursday, April 25 at 5 p.m. is a tribute to HÕFF’s opening film “Mootorsaed laulsid”.

The event, inspired by the images of the biggest heart that are formed once a year across Estonia, is recorded with a drone and will be shown on the screen a day later, when the festival is officially opened. All people with a sense of humor are welcome to participate.

In addition, a number of other events take place at HÕFF. The popular podcast “Darkest Hours” is visiting the festival for the second time – this time it will be turned into an audio play in front of the audience and recorded by the English horror classic MR James’s more than a hundred year old horror story “The Thrown Runes”.

Priit and Aiky Öövel bring a live performance with musical background and sound effects to the audience. “A good opportunity to rest your eyes and sharpen your ears for an hour – with old-school horror,” say the performers themselves.

The PÖFF youth and children’s film festival Just Film will visit the festival for the first time – on the last day of the festival, April 28, in the morning before the screening of the family film “Coco farm”, pancakes will be offered and the workshops will offer activities for everyone from the age of 7.

In support of Ukraine, a charity auction will be held for the third time, where items related to well-known Estonian films will be auctioned. You can once once more test your film knowledge in the legendary memory game named following Helmut Jänes.

The people of Haapsalu treat HÕFF’s guests from far away in their homes – the initiative is called “Köögís saab kino”.

Kyrgyz comedy “Bye, EU!”, partly filmed in Estonia. for the international premiere, the film’s producers will provide Central Asian snacks. At the traditional HÕFF party in the Haapsalu Kursaal, the crowd will be dancing to Disco Tallinn. The HÕFF cellar party with bingo will also take place at Herman Bistro & Bar.
