Fear returns to Emilia Romagna. The Lamone river overflowed last night in the Ravenna area at Traversara di Bagnacavallo, at the same point as last September 19th, when the entire hamlet was completely flooded. According to what the municipal administration announced, the water invaded the fields. The entire area had been evacuated as a precaution since yesterday afternoon. «The construction vehicles are at work and the Municipality of Bagnacavallo reminds us that the hamlet of Traversara must remain evacuated as per the order – recalls the president of the province, Michele de Pascale -, asking the residents of Cogollo, Longanesi, Cocchi, Viazza Vecchia and Viazza Nuova to immediately move to the upper floors, evacuating the ground, underground, basement and mezzanine floors. As regards the territory of the municipality of Ravenna, the situation remains monitored and currently under control”.
The Lamone river has opened a breach in Traversara, but the situation is being kept under control. «The river level is slowly lowering – writes the Municipality in a note -. The water coming from the breach on the embankment in Traversara continues to seep into the fields through the red zone, until it drains into the Barbavera ditch. Work also continues on the route construction site to reduce the flaw. The technicians of the Municipality, the Civil Protection and the Western Romagna Reclamation Consortium are in the field. Everyone is advised not to approach the areas affected by the flooding, pay maximum attention and implement personal protection measures.”
