“The KY of Argos Orestikos is being dissolved every day”

A question to the Minister of Health on the topic “Argos Orestikos Health Center is in a dramatic situation” was submitted by fourteen (14) MPs of SYRIZA-PS at the initiative of the Member of Parliament of Achaia and Head of the Health Department Andreas Panagiotopoulos.

The notice for filing the question states:

The question underscores the dramatic problems of the smooth and safe operation of the Argos Orestiko Health Center in the coastal region of Kastoria, problems that mainly concern the ongoing and tolerated understaffing by the Ministry of Health, and which do not ensure a scientifically correct and effective for the patients and in generates health service recipients. But neither for the workers in the health professional structure.

And the ambulance of the Health Center, due to the hasty and extremely dangerous “measures” legislated by the neo-rightist and indifferent government of the ND, is staffed by a crew that is not properly trained and therefore does not guarantee the safety of the patients it transports.

SYRIZA-PS believes in a public Primary Health Care as a primary pillar of the National Health System. The only solution, as he has demonstrated in practice and in the amendments he has tabled, is to make this an attractive place of work for health professionals and overall for all the human resources necessary for the operation.

**Interview with Andreas Panagiotopoulos, Head of the Health Department ⁢of SYRIZA-PS**

*Moderator:* Thank you for joining us today, Mr. Panagiotopoulos. Recently, fourteen SYRIZA-PS ⁢MPs submitted a question to the Minister ‍of ⁢Health regarding the critical situation at the Argos Orestikos Health Center.⁤ Can you elaborate on ‌the main issues plaguing this facility?

*Andreas‍ Panagiotopoulos:*‌ Absolutely. The Argos Orestikos Health Center is experiencing severe understaffing, which undermines its ability to provide safe and effective care for patients. This understaffing not only affects the quality ‍of services ⁢offered but also places tremendous pressure on the ⁤existing health workers.

*Moderator:* You also mentioned concerns regarding the ambulance services ‌provided by the Center. Can you explain the implications of having a crew that is not properly trained?

*Andreas Panagiotopoulos:* ⁤Yes, ‌the ⁢current situation is alarming. When an ambulance is staffed ⁤by individuals who lack adequate training,‌ it dramatically increases the‌ risks surrounding patient transport. In emergencies, every second counts, and untrained personnel ‍can lead to tragic outcomes.

*Moderator:* SYRIZA-PS advocates for a robust ‌public Primary Health Care system as ⁣a keystone of the National⁢ Health System. What steps do you think are necessary to attract qualified health professionals ‍to ‌understaffed facilities like Argos ⁣Orestikos?

*Andreas Panagiotopoulos:* To attract professionals, we must make these health institutions appealing workplaces, offering competitive⁢ salaries, ‌proper training, and support⁢ for staff. By ‍ensuring a sustainable workload and creating a supportive environment, we can⁢ encourage healthcare workers to thrive in these settings.

*Moderator:* Given the gravity of these issues at ⁤Argos Orestikos, what message would you like to send to the public regarding the state of healthcare in these regions?

*Andreas Panagiotopoulos:* I urge the public to recognize the ⁣challenges facing our healthcare system, particularly⁣ in remote areas like Argos Orestikos. We must advocate for change—not just for⁣ better conditions for healthcare workers, but fundamentally for the safety and well-being of all patients relying on these essential services.

*Moderator:* As⁢ a closing thought, how do you think the citizens should engage in this debate‍ over healthcare services in their communities?

*Andreas Panagiotopoulos:* I encourage citizens to voice their concerns and experiences. ‍Their insights⁤ can drive policy changes and shed⁣ light on deficiencies that need immediate attention. Community engagement is vital in shaping a healthcare system that truly serves the public’s needs.

*Moderator:*⁢ Thank you, Mr. Panagiotopoulos, for sharing your insights with us today. Now, we pose this question to our readers: What do you think about the current state of healthcare services at facilities like Argos ⁤Orestikos—are we doing enough to ensure patient safety and staff support? Your thoughts could ignite a much-needed ‍discussion.
