The Kraken demotes Shane Wright to the American League

Very little used by the Seattle Kraken this season, the young Shane Wright was loaned to the school club of the youngest organization on the Bettman circuit, the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The Kraken made the announcement on its Twitter account on Sunday. The center player will be able to spend up to two weeks in the American League under this loan for reconditioning.

The former Kingston Frontenacs was sidelined in 11 of Washington State’s first 18 games of the season. He collected one assist in seven games and he was sent into the fray on average only 8 min 6 s per duel.

The first-round pick and fourth overall pick in the National Hockey League’s last amateur auction has yet to convince head coach Dave Hakstol to give him an important role with the Kraken.

The Burlington native had 94 points in 63 games in his final season in the Ontario Hockey League, 2021-22. However, it was not enough to convince the Montreal Canadiens, the New Jersey Devils or the Arizona Coyotes to set their sights on him with one of the first three draft picks.
