The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation announced the participation of 14 new countries in the Global Knowledge Index, bringing the number to 154, noting that the report’s target number is 190 countries.
The results of the index will be discussed, in addition to the third edition of the Future of Knowledge Foresight Report, during the activities of the 2022 Knowledge Summit.
Experts stressed that the knowledge system of countries is not well established enough to absorb potential future risks, which was demonstrated by the “Corona” pandemic, and therefore the Knowledge Summit 2022 will study the transformative capabilities that enable countries to continue to grow in the face of shocks.
The summit will be organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, at the headquarters of “Expo 2020 Dubai” on March 14 and 15, under the slogan “Knowledge .. protecting humanity and challenging pandemics”. In cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme.
This came during a press conference held by the Foundation, yesterday, to announce the details of the seventh session of the summit, with the participation of Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Foundation, Khaled Abdel Shafi, Director of the Regional Center for Arab States, United Nations Development Program, and Dr. Hani Turki, Chief Technical Adviser and Project Manager Knowledge of the United Nations Development Programme.
During his speech at the press conference, Bin Huwaireb said that the seventh session of the “Knowledge Summit 2022” will create a state of constructive discussion regarding the role of knowledge in protecting humanity from successive challenges such as climate change and economic crises related to supply chains, food security and the fight once morest poverty in the world. It will also shed light on the different dimensions of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, as well as the general legal landscape, re-imagining legal practices in the post-pandemic world, the role and impact of the media during the crisis, and the third generation of the web metavirus.
He stressed that the summit will continue its activities virtually for the first time, by holding several sessions and broadcasting them via the website during the period from 16 to 18 March, during which topics of interest to Arab and international youth will be discussed and mechanisms for good qualification of young people for leadership and the labor market will be discussed, as well as Review other issues related to water security, economic, social and environmental development.
Abdul Shafi said: The 2022 Knowledge Summit will witness the launch of the third edition of the Future of Knowledge Foresight Report, as the results of the 2018 and 2019 Foresight Reports showed that economies are not ready for future changes, and that their knowledge systems are not well established enough to absorb potential future risks. He added: This failure or delay in achieving the ability to fully benefit is lost opportunities for these countries, especially that the “Covid-19” pandemic revealed the fragility of economies and their inability to respond appropriately to turmoil or unexpected transformations, which confirms the sincerity of the results of the future foresight report. and the strength of his predictive model.
He continued, “This year’s report focuses on examining the transformative capabilities that enable countries to continue to grow in the face of shocks, and to maintain development gains. The report covers 40 countries, and focuses on three current risks (health, environmental and technology risks) through the methodology of analyzing social media and big data, in addition to traditional data; With the aim of measuring the transformative capabilities of countries, the most important of which are the capabilities of cooperation and innovation.
Dr. Hani Turki spoke regarding the Foresight Future of Knowledge report, which consists of four chapters, where the first chapter clarifies the global, technological, health and environmental risks and the challenges they pose, and provides an analysis of the role of transformational capacity in bearing these risks, and the main aspects of knowledge and skills that form the basis for this transformation. The second chapter shows the methodology used in the analysis, detailing the data collection tools, the analytical framework and the approach, while the third chapter focuses on the main results of the analysis at the global level in terms of the ability to innovate. The fourth chapter presents a set of recommendations and concluding observations.
The two-day summit sessions will address broad topics, most notably “knowledge leads the future”, “the third generation of the web: metavirus”, “the role and impact of the media during the Covid-19 crisis”, and “epidemics and their impact on climate and the environment: a weapon with Double Edges”, “Food Security: Between Sustainable Supply Chains and Self-Sufficiency”, “Fighting Poverty with Different Thinking”, “Mental Health and Epidemics”, “Youth and Entrepreneurship”, and “Social Progress Index”.
