The Kingdom announces the dispatch of the first Saudi female and male astronauts to the International Space Station..and reveals the goal

Al-Marsad Newspaper – SPA: The Kingdom announced today that it will send the first Saudi female and male astronauts to the International Space Station during the second quarter of the year 2023 AD, where the Saudi female and male astronauts (Rayana Bernawi and Ali Al-Qarni) will join the crew of the AX-2 space mission.

The Kingdom aims to build national capabilities in the field of manned flights for the sake of humanity, benefit from the promising opportunities offered by the space sector and its industries globally, and contribute to scientific research that is in the interest of serving humanity in a number of priority areas such as health, sustainability and space technology.

She explained that the scientific flight will start from the United States of America to the International Space Station, noting that the program includes training a female pilot and two other astronauts on all mission requirements, namely (Maryam Firdous and Ali Al-Ghamdi).
