The King of Jordan warns of the region entering new cycles of violence

Amman – King Abdullah II of Jordan warned yesterday, Monday, that the Middle East region was entering new cycles of violence that threatened international peace and security.

This came during a phone call he received from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, according to a statement from the Royal Court.

The statement stated that the call “dealt with the recent escalation in the region.”

He pointed out that Al-Mak Abdullah “warned of the danger of the region entering into new cycles of violence that threaten international peace and security.”

He stressed “the necessity of reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, and doubling the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Strip by all available means.”

He warned of “the seriousness of the acts of violence committed by extremist settlers once morest Palestinians in the West Bank, and the violations once morest Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.”

The King reiterated “the necessity of finding a political horizon to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict,” praising Italy’s “supportive” position for efforts to achieve peace on the basis of a two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli), according to the same statement.

This comes as the world awaits a possible response from Israel to a military attack carried out by Iran on Saturday/Sunday night.

On Saturday evening, Iran launched regarding 350 missiles and drones towards Israel, of which Tel Aviv claimed to have intercepted 99 percent, while Tehran said that half of the missiles hit Israeli targets “successfully.”

This is the first attack launched by Iran directly from its territory on Israel, and not through groups loyal to it, and it came in response to a missile attack that targeted the consular section of the Tehran embassy in Damascus at the beginning of this April.

Tehran accuses Tel Aviv of launching the missile attack; As a result, 7 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were killed, including prominent General Mohammad Reza Zahedi.

Tel Aviv did not officially acknowledge or deny its responsibility for the Damascus attack, and both Iran and Israel consider the other country their first enemy, and there is decades of hostility and accusations of launching mutual attacks between them.
