the king of fast charging, according to DXOMARK

DxOMark, the reference laboratory for smartphone testing, has given its verdict on the battery performance of the Oppo Find X5 Pro. And the least we can say is that Oppo’s ultra premium model hits hard.

Mainly known for its tests of smartphone cameras, the DxOMark laboratory is also interested in the battery of our phones. The lab has thus developed a very specific protocol for testing autonomy. Three criteria are used to assess a battery: autonomy, charge, and energy efficiency. Thus, the score assigned depends on several data and results from a mixture of technical specifications, as well as tests in real use (mobile connection, calls, use of a GPS, video games, etc.).

This time, DXOMark looked at the battery of the Oppo Find X5 Pro, Oppo’s ultra high-end smartphone. The latter has a 5000 mAh battery, compatible with 80 W SuperVOOC charging and 50 W AirVOOC wireless. And DXOMark awarded it an excellent overall score of 73.

Particularly fast charging

As we pointed out in our test, DxOMark notes that fast charging is exceptionally effective for the Oppo Find X5 Pro. In its category of very high-end smartphones, it simply ranks first on charging, with a score of 102.

In practice, five minutes on the mains are enough to recover six hours of autonomy. We had noted on our side that a dozen minutes were enough to find 50% battery, which the lab confirms. He also welcomes wireless charging, which he considers to be one of the best in the segment. Only 41 minutes are needed to reach a full charge.

A respectable autonomy

In terms of autonomy, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is doing very well, above average in its range, where it even ranks in the Top 5. Oppo has notably improved energy consumption when watching videos in streaming.

According to DXOMark, its biggest weak point would be the autonomy in call. For moderate use (regarding 4 hours a day), Oppo’s smartphone will last two days (49 hours precisely), which is largely appreciable for such a powerful phone.

Thus, if theiPhone 13 Pro Max is the battery king across all criteria (notably for overall experience and energy efficiency), Oppo’s latest ultra-premium model ranks first on load capacity in its price range. It notably surpasses hands down the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultrawhich shows a total score of 60.

In short, the Oppo Find X5 Pro does much better than its competitors in this area (Galaxy S21 Ultra, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra…), for now anyway. Indeed, all the latest premium smartphones have not necessarily yet been tested by the French lab.
