The first phase of the redevelopment project at the “Charte des Libertés” roundregarding, located in the center of Huy opposite the King Baudouin Bridge, will begin on Thursday, the Complementary Infrastructure Financing Company (Sofico) announced on Monday. The work will result in the closure of the King Baudouin Bridge, which spans the Meuse, until the end of year holidays.

From Thursday until November 14, motorists wishing to connect the right bank and the left bank will be diverted via the Europe Bridge, located less than a kilometer from the King Baudouin Bridge. Other local traffic conditions will not change.

Furthermore, from November 14 until winter, users traveling on the N90 from Liège will no longer be able to directly join the N641 (in the direction of Modave) and will be diverted via rue des Crépalles, to the N66.

Users traveling on the N641 from Huy will also no longer be able to directly join the N90. Their route will be diverted via the Quai Dautrebande and the Quai d’Arona to the so-called “cable car” roundregarding located on the Quai d’Arona (N90), in order to be able to reach the Quai de Namur.

Rue de la Collégiale will remain accessible during this phase.

Traffic on the King Baudouin Bridge should be restored “before the end of year holidays”, according to Sofico. The bridge will remain accessible to pedestrians during the work.

Two other phases, the details of which will be specified later, will follow.

The end of this project, with a budget of nearly 1.39 million euros excluding VAT, is scheduled for summer 2024.
