Just yesterday, the updated Kia K5 sedan debuted in Korea, and its appearance has undergone only cosmetic changes. And today Kia declassified the restyled Carnival – and its scope of alterations turned out to be much larger. The minivan, which has been in production for three years, has had its front and rear parts completely redesigned!
Left – it was, right – it became
The new face with vertical headlights and “mustaches” of running lights has already become a family name for Kia cars: this design originally appeared on the American crossover Kia Telluride, and then it was adapted for the Sorento SUV and even for the small Picanto hatchback. The radiator grille became wider, a new front bumper appeared, but the hood remained untouched.
The stern has also been seriously redesigned. Vertical sections have been added to the rear lights, the fifth door is completely new (including the shape of the opening), and the bumper has been changed. The wheel design has been revised. Alas, the interior of the updated Carnival has not yet been shown, but approximately the same changes are expected there as in the Sorento: a different front panel and combined screens without visors.
The main technical update will be the appearance of a hybrid modification with a 1.6 petrol turbo engine. However, the existing power units will not go anywhere: the 2.2 turbodiesel (194 hp) and the naturally aspirated V6 3.5 petrol (294 hp) will remain in service. All details will appear closer to the start of sales, which is scheduled for November in South Korea.
