The keys to the murder of Farruko Pop that linked the suspects of the crime

Two months after the murder of the influencer and singer Jorge Sebastian Pop Chocojbetter known as Farruko Popdetails of the analysis of fingerprints and other evidence, with which the Public Ministry (MP) links seven suspects to the crime.

The young man’s body was found buried in a clandestine grave in the courtyard of a house in the El Limón neighborhoodon May 25, 2024, when he had been missing for about a week.

Farruko Pop showed signs of violence and it was determined that he died from being strangled. He also had a cut mark on his leg, which is related to the gang from zone 18.

On July 29, during a court hearing, a prosecutor in charge of the investigation delved into the technical and scientific aspects of researchand highlighted the series of evidence, in addition to the statement of a witness who considers crucial and that would link those involved in the crime.

Investigators recreated Pop’s journey even before the time when his murder is believed to have occurred. To do so, they used cell phone conversations, testimonies and multiple images from video surveillance cameras as references.

Route

“Don’t you want to go to a chamusca tomorrow?” reads one of the chat messages that are part of the information extracted from cell phones, one of which belonged to Farruko, and another that the witness gave to the MP.

The prosecutor of the case explained that in this conversation a woman invites Pop to meet at some courts in zone 18. They finally agree to meet on May 20, 2024.

Various images were then displayed that showed Farruko Pop on that date on 6th Avenue in Zone 1, interacting with other people who asked to take photos with him.

Video clips were later played showing Pop getting out of a white taxi at a gas station and transferring to a motorcycle taxi.

In this way, the Prosecutor’s Office seeks to demonstrate the route that the young man took and that would have led him into the El Limón neighborhood in zone 18, a sector where there are three properties that would be connected to the crime, where search warrants were carried out and the evidence that was displayed in the room was seized.

The prosecutor said that the witness, who testified as advance evidence, described that on May 20, he first saw Farruko when he entered one of the houses accompanied by three women. There, according to the specialized investigation of the National Civil Police (PNC), an alleged party was held.

Two videos, WhatsApp conversations, and the witness’ statement indicate that those involved in the incident and who would have entered the house were: Elton, Carlos, Hilario, Marcos and three female minors, one of whom has already been referred by the authorities.

Five days after Farruko’s disappearance, on May 25, that was the first home raided. Seventeen pieces of evidence were found there, including a red cap that the young man was believed to have been wearing on the day he disappeared.

In that same building was also located a shotgun-type firearm, a mini Usi, a tactical belt, a hopper, a white T-shirt with possible blood stains.

In addition, there was two cans of soda and other beverage containers which, according to the prosecutor, became key evidence after examining them and finding fingerprints that point to one of the suspects in the crime.

It was in the hopper and on a bottle that, according to the prosecutor, the fingerprints corresponding to Hilario “N” were found, one of those involved, who was seen with Marcos “N”, the latter already arrested and linked to criminal proceedings for the crime of murder in degree of complicity.

“All of this was corroborated by technical and scientific evidence,” the prosecutor said as images of the cans and other evidence were projected.

However, Hilario “N”‘s fingerprints were also found on other abandoned objects in the two remaining properties, including the house where Farruko’s body was found buried, where the investigator said that “Beer cans were also found and later analyzed for lofoscopic examinations” —analysis of fingerprint reliefs—, used as evidence to identify the suspect.

The photographic archive presented included a comparative analysis of images showing the clothing, chain and red cap that Farruko was wearing on May 20.

The items of clothing, the investigator explained, coincided in their journey through zone 1 and upon their arrival in zone 18.

In a photograph in which he posed next to a minor with whom he traveled in the motorcycle taxi, he is also seen wearing the same clothes, which were analyzed during the autopsy.

Revelations of Witness “A”

Witness “A” supported with his account the connection between the seven suspects and the houses. In the case of Hilario “N” and Marcos “N”, he claimed to have seen them together on May 20, the day the crime against Pop allegedly occurred.

In addition, according to the prosecutor, the witness stated that he observed how Marcos “N” entered with a “shovel and pickaxe” on May 21 and 22 to the house where Farruko’s body was hidden.

Hilario “N”, identified as an active member of the gang, would also have reported the crime through a video call, possibly to a prisoner, according to two videos taken from one of the mobile phones.

His profile, included in the National Civil Police database, was compared with photographs on his social networks.

In addition, a map was shown that refers to the route from the initial point when Farruko boarded the motorcycle taxi and arrived at the house where the alleged party was taking place.

Between that first building and the second, where Farruko’s body was found, there are just over 40 meters. “Because of the proximity, less than 50 meters, it is possible to transport a body, whether carried by hand or by two or three people,” said the prosecutor.
