US President Joe Biden that he had the key to an Amtrak train when he was a senator in Congress and that he rode 15 percent of his trips during that time with the engineers on trips to and from Delaware.
The 80-year-old president shared the anniversary in Baltimore, Maryland, while touting the $4 billion appropriation of a bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that will be used to build a number of the city’s subway tunnels to replace one from 1873.
“I can say that now because there’s a different drive,” Biden said. “I used to ride regarding 15 percent of the time with the engineers, for real.. I’m the only guy I know – when I stopped riding the Amtrak – he had the key.”
The New York Post said it was unclear whether Biden told the story earlier, although he usually shares stories and personal anecdotes that always collapse under investigation, according to the newspaper. Amtrak spokespeople did not respond to a request for comment.
“I rode the Washington-Wilmington train back and forth every single day the Senate was in, and they told me it was an average of 117 days a year, regarding 265 miles a day. I moved over a million miles on the Amtrak, and that’s no joke, including during My job as vice president”, he continued, “People, look, I’ve made 1,000 trips through this Baltimore tunnel. I’ve been through this tunnel 1,000 times.
According to the newspaper, Biden is the oldest president of the United States ever, and his mental health is frequently a matter of debate as he prepares to launch his 2024 re-election campaign — especially following he asked, “Where’s Jackie?” While searching for the late Rep. Jackie Walorsky in September, he publicly mourned her death and even called her family to offer his condolences in August.
