The president of the Anticancer Society of VenezuelaCono Gumina, announced this Tuesday that breast cancer is the main concern for women in the country and represents the most frequent cause of death, followed by lung cancer, cervical cancer and diseases of the digestive tract.
This month Rosa, the specialist highlighted the relevance of optimizing early diagnosis, since “an injury detected in time is almost equivalent to saving a life.”
Anticancer Society urges the fight against this disease
The president of the Anticancer Society of Venezuela reported that his team of specialists has performed approximately 450 breast cancer surgeries.
“We know that surgery is essential in the treatment of almost all types of diagnosed cancer,” he added.
He explained that they have a program to assist patients during their surgery and subsequent oncological treatment, emphasizing that in other countries between 10 and 15% of diagnosed cases advance to critical phases, while in Venezuela this figure ranges between 60 and 80%.
In that sense, he called on people to unite in the fight against this disease.
