Kolkata: The much-controversial movie ‘The Kerala Story’ has been banned in Bengal. There are widespread protests once morest the film in many states including Kerala. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the ban on the film at the state secretariat.
“Kerala story is a twisted story. The ban is to maintain the atmosphere of peace in the state,” said Mamata. The Kerala Story ban was announced following Mamata accused the BJP of funding anti-Bengal films like Kashmir Files. Mamata instructed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the Kerala story is not screened in theatres.
Multiplexes in Tamil Nadu had canceled the screening of the film citing law and order issues and lack of audience. On the day of release, ‘The Kerala Story’ was screened in 20 theaters in Kerala. There were protests in Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Thrissur districts. The police had established security all over the state.
