The Kansas City Chiefs have begun the pursuit of a historic third straight Super Bowl title.

In a dramatic NFL opener, they won at home at Arrowhead 27–20 over the Baltimore Ravens.

With zero seconds left, the away team thought they had a chance to win, but Isaiah Likely had his toe out of the end zone.

Taylor Swift was on hand to watch the Kansas City Chiefs with boyfriend Travis Kelce and led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

It was an intense start to the playoff season between the two conference rivals after seven months without NFL football.

21-year-old rookie Xavier Worthy impressed with his lightning speed and scored two touchdowns for the Kansas City Chiefs in a dream debut, scoring a touchdown the first time he touched the ball in an NFL game.

“Just having him out there with players like Trevor Kelce and Rashee Rice opens things up. He is so cool, calm and comfortable all the time, we want to continue to use him more and more, says Patrick Mahomes.

– I feel that nerves are not a thing for me. I got into it straight away, it was like being a kid again and playing in the back of the house, says Xavier Worthy.

Dramatic video review

For the Baltimore Ravens, it was all about quarterback Lamar Jackson, but he missed an open pass to Zay Flowers and soon after, Isaiah Likely had his toe out of bounds when he caught the ball.

It was initially flagged for a touchdown and wild celebrations broke out, but after video review it was ruled out.

– I thought it was a touchdown. I still think it’s a touchdown, Lamar Jackson said.

– The judge looked at me, I looked at the judge. He signaled for the touchdown. I thought that was what it was, says Isaiah Likely.

The NFL continues tonight Swedish time when the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers play the first NFL game in Brazil, where Sao Paolo is the venue.
