Al-Marsad Newspaper: A specialist in environmental services management revealed, during a media report on Al-Ekhbariya channel, the place where the water used in Makkah and the holy sites goes during the Hajj season, and how it is used.
Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Zakry, “Operational Excellence Supervisor of the Environmental Services Department,” said: The National Water Company is intensifying its efforts to serve the guests of Rahman, and at the same time it seeks to preserve the environment and secure it from any pollutants.
Abizaid: The National Water Company is keen to reach the highest levels of environmental safety for wastewater through triple treatment techniques, which is the level that can be reached for biological treatment for disinfection and filtration.
And he continued: After the wastewater reaches the two treatment plants in Hadda and Arna, it is treated in three stages, to improve its specifications and reduce pollutants in it. The final treatment of treated water aims to sterilize the water, remove sediment and kill disease-causing bacteria, and then reuse it.
The station maintenance manager, Majed Attia, added that the triple-treated water is used for restricted agricultural use, industrial use, and other uses other than human use.
The report indicated that the water journey passes following its use in the holy sites through networks with a total length of 2414 km, in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the holy sites, where the national water seeks to treat more than 500 thousand cubic meters of water per day, as the absorptive area of the environmental treatment plant in “Hadda” 250 thousand cubic meters per day, while the capacity of the treatment plant in “Arna” is 250 thousand cubic meters per day.
