75 female motor journalists from 52 countries on five continents choose the BEST CAR IN THE WORLD 2024.
The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year journalists have chosen the Kia EV9 as the Best Car in the World 2024. The announcement of the winner coincides with the beginning of International Women’s Day (New Zealand time), a very special date because it gives voice to women in all areas, including mobility.
Before casting their votes, the 75 motoring journalists, from 52 countries and five continents, have tested dozens of models and evaluated each of their details.
In the first round of voting, the best cars in each category were chosen from a total of 63 candidates.
The winners were:
Volvo EX30 (Family car)
BMW Series 5 (Berlina)
KIA EV9 (SUV)
Volkswagen Amarok (4×4 and van)
Aston Martin DB12 (Exclusive Car)
In the second round, these finalists were used as a basis to choose the Best Car in the World 2024.
«This year’s election has been especially difficult due to the excellent level of all the candidates. Each of the finalists had sufficient merit to win the trophy. The KIA EV9 has prevailed over its rivals because it is a vehicle capable of satisfying the needs of consumers in all parts of the world,” says Marta García, executive president of WWCOTY.
Finally, and after scrutiny, the balance has tilted towards the Kia EV9, the Korean brand’s first large electric SUV with up to seven seats. Despite its 5 meters long, it has good aerodynamics. It also stands out for its innovative design, high technology, bidirectional charging and ultra-fast charging.

“The Kia EV9 is a real catalyst for electric vehicles. Probably in the future we will say that with their launch, electric cars became truly incredible, easy to use and desirable for all consumers. “No other vehicle has pushed the boundaries of design and engineering to this limit” – Tanya Gazdik, USA.
“Kia has developed a large SUV with an electric motor that stands out for its good aerodynamics, its innovative design, its high technology – with up to level 3 autonomous driving –, and because it offers bidirectional charging and ultra-fast 800-volt charging”: Sara Soria, Spain.
“The widespread acceptance of electrification will be conditioned by the availability of electric vehicles in all segments. The Kia EV9 offers a familiar interior and, in addition, a driving experience similar to that of gasoline, but without emissions”: Jil Macintosh, Canada.
