Autistic photographer William Caron will be present to explain and sell his 38 works printed and exhibited at the Sentier des arts in Parc André-J.-Côté in Candiac, on August 13, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

His mother Michele Cave wanted to organize an event to allow him to sell his photos, but also to allow him to meet people. Since the start of her exhibition on June 8, she had not had time to gather family and friends to celebrate the works of her 17-year-old son.

“When we inaugurated the exhibition with the City, we saw him presenting his works and he had so much fun,” she confides. When people said it was beautiful, he was really happy.”

Half of the money raised will go to the Mira Foundation. William Caron has had an assistance dog for 10 years, named Pixel.

“It was important for us to give to Mira, since we see the positive effect on our son, she explains. It encourages William to talk to people when they come to see him and his dog.”

Mrs. Cave does not hide that the exploits of her son make her very proud.

“When we received the call from the City that he had been selected for the Sentier des arts, it was like winning the lottery! Me who loves the photo, I love doing it with him, she continues. It’s really beautiful to see him create.”

“He’s an amazing boy. There are no words to express my pride and that of the family.”

Mrs. Cave notices that people look at William Caron and his dog in an adorable way when they are together. However, it’s night and day when he doesn’t have her with him, she says.

“For example, if he doesn’t have his dog with him at the mall, he will make noises and people will look at him with lots of judgments, says the one who is a professional photographer. It breaks my heart.”

She mentions that it’s only her boy who takes care of Pixel. This task allows him to develop a sense of responsibility. In addition, the dog is his emotional support.

“When William is in pain, Pixel automatically comes to bed next to him to comfort him,” she says.

He even helped him through an operation at the dentist.

“We thought it would be impossible to finish the procedure, but with the dog on him, the dentist was able to complete the procedure,” she explains.

His mother thinks that her son might want to practice photography as a job later, since he is so passionate. For now, she and her family accompany him on all his adventures.
