French press reports revealed that the English club, Leeds United, made an offer to include the Moroccan international Ezzedine Onahi French midfielder Angers, and this may threaten the player’s transfer to the ranks of Italian Napoli.
Onahi starred greatly with the Moroccan national team in the last World Cup in Qatar, and succeeded in leading his country to the semi-finals as the first Arab and African team to achieve this achievement.
And the English newspaper “Telefoot” reported that Leeds has now entered the race and is comfortably ahead of Napoli, with an offer of 25 million euros on the table.
Napoli were reportedly ready to bid around €19m including bonuses and leave Onahi on loan in France until the end of the season.
The newspaper pointed out that the situation has become complicated for Napoli, due to reports that Onahi is regarding to sign a new agent to represent him.
Barcelona and Almeria are among the other interested clubs, while Olympique de Marseille is in preliminary talks with the player in order to include him.
Onahi came to Angers, France, in the summer of 2021, coming from Avranches, one of the national league teams in France, which is the third division in French football. Onahi played 47 matches during a season and a half with the team that is bottom of the “Ligue 1” table, during which he scored two goals..
Internationally, Onahi participated in 17 matches with the Moroccan national team, all during 2022, in which he scored two goals in a 4-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo and led the Atlas Lions to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
