Israel – Israeli media reported that the War Cabinet decided to deepen the operation in Rafah, despite US President Joe Biden’s threat to suspend sending weapons to Israel in the event of a full incursion into Rafah.
According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the War Cabinet unanimously decided last night to deepen the operation in Rafah, despite US President Joe Biden stopping arms shipments and confirming that he would stop supplying weapons to Israel if it continued its operation in Rafah.
For her part, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Friday that the United States had temporarily stopped shipping only one batch of ammunition to Israel, and there would not be a complete cessation of missile supplies.
In a related context, Axios suggested that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken would submit a report criticizing Israel for its practices in Gaza, without accusing it of violating the conditions for not using American weapons once morest civilians.
Biden had said in an interview with CNN that Washington would not send weapons to Israel if it invaded Rafah on a large scale.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also confirmed the temporary suspension of arms shipments of heavy ammunition to Israel, due to disagreements and controversy with Tel Aviv over the invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
It is worth noting that the Israeli army had announced that it had complete control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah land crossing separating the Gaza Strip from Egyptian territory.
Israeli forces entered the city of Rafah at dawn last Tuesday, amid international warnings and fears of the seriousness of the situation.
