Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Israel-Arabic page of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs sparked an interaction among activists on social media following a tweet regarding a video clip regarding the participation of Israeli players in the FIFA electronic tournament held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

And it appears in the circulating video clip, which was published by the FIFA page, meaning “FIFAe”, on its official Twitter page, the appearance of players raising the Israeli flag.

In Arabic, Israel said in its tweet, which quoted the Israeli journalist, Roei Casey: “The flag of Israel is in Saudi Arabia! In the last hour, a video spread of the launch of the FIFA World Championship, which will be held this year in Riyadh. On the tape, the Israeli players and the Israeli flag can be seen.”

In a separate tweet, Case posted a video clip claiming to be the moment the Israeli national anthem was played during the tournament’s opening ceremony.

CNN Arabic has reached out to the Saudi authorities for comment, with no response at the time of writing.

The FIFAe Nations Cup gives players the opportunity to play online alongside a teammate from the same country with the added alternative of playing 2v2, and first started in 2019.
